The art of letting go

She let go.

This poem was a gift from my mother, on a day when I needed it more than anything.

A simple reminder that though sometimes the madding crowd gives us as much as it takes, it mostly just takes.

Therefore, because I’m the daughter of the King, I choose to not do anything but just let go. Tomorrow is another day. Today, I’m letting go. Breathing. Without asking for permission, advice, atonement, or forgiveness. I’m just letting it all slip through my fingers like beach sand and crushed shells.

We all need to just let go. Whatever is holding us back from being who we really are. Whether it is the regret, the to do list, the time lost, the promises broken, all can fade away like water droplets back into the sea.

Today, I let go so that my hands can open up and hold the ones I love a little closer. It’s time to forgive them, forgive myself, and remember that we are all adopted children of the King.

Reminds me of this old favorite… A Newsboys classic…

I’m forgiven, because you were forsaken.
I’m accepted, you were condemned.
I’m alive and well, your spirit is within me…
Because you died and rose again…

~Amazing love…
